Microsoft Copilot 3D
Microsoft has officially announced to roll out free Copilot Chat features inside Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and OneNote. This means you can now use AI directly in the apps you work with every day-without paying extra. For those who are using it for the first time, Copilot Chat sits in a sidebar and helps with tasks like drafting text, summarising emails, creating slides, or even analysing spreadsheets. The feature is designed to feel like an assistant that knows what you’re working on. Since it’s “content aware,” it tailors responses to the document or file open on your screen. Also Read: Apple Joins Meta, Microsoft In AI Copyright Controversy: Is iPhone-Maker Training AI With Authors' Books?
What all can you do? If you are using the new Copilot Chat, you can:
Note that it’s all integrated into the apps, so there’s less need to switch between windows or copy and paste content.
While this free version is powerful, Microsoft is keeping its premium Copilot license for advanced use. The paid plan, which costs $30 per user each month, allows AI to work across all of your documents, emails, chats, and meetings-not just the file you’re in.
Premium users also get faster response times, priority access during peak hours, and additional tools like Researcher and Analyst agents. These advanced features are designed for businesses that rely heavily on AI-powered productivity.
Unlike earlier consumer plans, Microsoft is not raising prices for businesses with this update. Copilot Chat is included at no extra cost for Microsoft 365 subscribers. The company also plans to fold its sales, service, and finance Copilots into the Microsoft 365 Copilot subscription later this year, which may even reduce costs for some businesses.
