Sony is giving PlayStation Plus subscribers a Halloween treat this year. Three AAA horror games are now available to claim for free on PS5, giving players a mix of survival, mystery, and psychological thrills to enjoy this spooky season. While October’s regular PS Plus lineup didn’t bring any standout horror titles, this special Halloween offer adds three of the biggest horror hits from recent years. Two of these games are exclusive to the PS Plus Extra and Premium tiers, while one is available across all subscription levels. One of the most acclaimed horror games of all time has returned. Silent Hill 2 – a remake of the 2001 classic from Team Silent – has been developed by Bloober Team for the PS5. The game retains its psychological roots while enhancing graphics and overall atmosphere for modern consoles. The game received an 87 score on Metacritic and received three nominations at The Game Awards, being crowned 2024’s best horror game in no time. Silent Hill 2 will be available from October 21 for PS Plus Extra and Premium members.
Remedy Entertainment’s Alan Wake 2 was one of 2023’s most celebrated releases. A cinematic storytelling experience with some haunting visuals that features writer Alan Wake confronting supernatural threats as well as his own mind, winning three awards at The Game Awards, including Best Game Direction and Best Narrative. With an 89 score on Metacritic, it remains one of the highest-rated horror games of this generation. PS Plus subscribers across all tiers can play Alan Wake 2 for free until November 4.
Supermassive Games’ Until Dawn is another iconic horror title joining the PS Plus lineup. Originally launched in 2015 as a PS4 exclusive, it received a PS5 remake in 2024, which is now available to claim. The interactive survival horror game allows players to control multiple characters, whose fates will change based upon player choices, a key feature that drove the game’s success. The game holds a 79 rating on Metacritic and will be available from October 21 for PS Plus Extra and Premium users.
