Nothing has officially teased the launch of its next major operating system (OS) update — the Nothing OS 4.0. While taking it to the X (formerly Twitter), the London-based tech giant has revealed, “Nothing OS 4.0. Refined. Redefined. Coming soon.”
It must be noted that Nothing OS 4.0 was earlier teased during the launch of the Nothing Phone 3 back in July. Later, it was revealed by the Nothing Community post that the first closed beta version of the Nothing OS 4.0 has started rolling out exclusively to the Phone 3. This allowed some beta testers to get their hands on the upcoming update and report if there are any bugs and issues. However, there has been no official word on the stable update.
Now, it seems like the company is finally ready to release the stable version of the Nothing OS 4.0 soon. Although the final release date is still unknown. Here is everything that we know about the Android 16-based Nothing OS 4.0.
Based on the teaser and leaks, the Nothing OS 2.0 is expected to bring a new circular torn icon, which may get a red coloured torchlight. Moreover, it may also bring Bluetooth Switch and temperature monitor widget, a brightness adjustment widget, a to-do list widget, and a button to turn off and off the dark mode.
Eligible devices for the Nothing OS 4.0? Some leaks suggest that the list may look like this:

Talking about the rollout, there is still no official word on the exact date. However, Nothing’s CEO Carl Pei has hinted during the launch of the Nothing Phone 3 that the Nothing OS 4.0 will be released in the autumn of this year. This makes sense as the previous Nothing OS 3.0 was also released in December last year in India.
