Apple has finally rolled out its biggest update (so far!) – the iOS 26 – for all the supported iPhone users. Starting this week, iPhone users have an option to update their iPhones to iOS 26 without the need to go through the beta phase. The stable perfect update without any major bugs and filled with a new look, that’s what Apple says! But no matter how perfect it may seem, every update has one hidden danger for you: the loss of battery health. news Also Read: How To Turn Off The New Liquid Glass Look In iOS 26 On Your iPhone

So, if you are excited for the iOS 26 update, then think again, as the iOS 26 update may impact your iPhone’s battery life. And Apple accepts it too.  news Also Read: Downloaded iOS 26? Try Out These 7 Features On Your iPhone Now

iOS 26: Will It Impact Your iPhone’s Battery? Apple Replied

Apple’s Support page for the iOS 26 update has mentioned that “Immediately after completing an update, particularly a major release, you might notice a temporary impact on battery life and thermal performance.” However, Apple says that this is a normal, “as your device needs time to complete the setup process in the background, including indexing data and files for search, downloading new assets, and updating apps.”

This is also because the new features of iOS 26 may require additional resources from the device, which impacts the performance and the battery life. So, if your iPhone’s battery life is already at an alarming point, then jumping to iOS 26 may further deplete the battery.

So, it is not a shocker for iPhone users, as it usually happens with every new update; however, you must keep a check on the battery health of your iPhone before updating. To check the battery health:

  • Go to the Settings app on your iPhone.
  • Here, go to the Battery.
  • Click on Battery Health & Charging.

iOS 26: Why Is It Important?

Battery concerns aside, updating to iOS 26 isn’t something you should ignore. Apple packs every new iOS release with much more than just a visual refresh. With iOS 26, you get access to new features across Messages, Safari, Mail, and even deeper system changes like Control Centre tweaks and a redesigned Lock Screen. And then there’s Apple Intelligence – Apple’s push into smarter, AI-powered tools, which means your iPhone can now do things it simply couldn’t before.

Most importantly, software updates are Apple’s frontline defence against security risks. With iOS 26, you’re not only getting fresh features but also critical security patches that shield your iPhone from the latest cyber threats. And of course, those annoying bugs and glitches? Updates smooth them out, making your device more stable and reliable in everyday use.

So yes, iOS 26 might impact your battery health in the short run, but in the bigger picture, it’s what keeps your iPhone secure, powerful, and ready for what’s next.
