Reliance Jio announced its Jio Bharat lineup of phones last year in India. Jio Bharat was the affordable 4G phone in the series available in two versions, Jio Bharat V2 and JioBharat V2 Karbon. Sometime later last year, Jio unveiled the Jio Bharat B1. The company has now quietly updated the series with Jio Bharat J1, which is a 4G keypad phone that comes with a new design and features. J1 supports Jio apps and services such as JioPay for UPI transactions, JioCinema for content streaming, and other services. Moreover, it also comes with a big battery and a comparatively larger screen. However, the price has also been bumped up. Let’s see the 4G feature phone’s price, specs, and features.
Jio Bharat J1 4G is costlier than last year’s Jio Bharat V2/ V2 Karbon, and Bharat B1. While those phones were priced at just Rs 999/Rs 1,299, the Bharat J1 4G is priced at Rs 1,799. The device is available for purchase on Amazon in a single Black/Grey colour option.
Jio Bharat J1 4G comes with a revamped design over the predecessor. The device has a slightly bigger form factor and a larger screen. It sports a 2.8-inch display, up from 1.77-inch on the V2. Due to its bigger form factor, it also packs a larger battery sized 2,500mAh. Thanks to the larger battery and screen, the 4G feature phone can be a good entertainment device for those on a tight budget.
Perhaps for the same reason, Jio offers JioCinema pre-installed on the phone. Users can also use the Jio TV app. Both of these apps will let users watch live sports and Live TV content on the phone. Other Jio services are also supported such as JioPay and JioChat.
Jio recommends users recharge the device with the Jio Bharat Plan, which costs Rs 123 and offers unlimited calls, 14GB of 4G data a month, and access to the above Jio apps and services. The device has 3 4G bands and is a locked device, which means only Jio SIM will work with it.
The feature phone has a circular navigation button instead of a squarish one on the predecessor. It has a single digital camera on the back without a flashlight. However, there’s an LED torch at the top. It comes with a 3.5mm jack for connecting wired headphones.
