It seems like the fashion of compact smartphones is finally back in town! Well, none of the recent launches or the available options are as mini-powerhouse-like as the iPhone mini options (the iPhone 13 mini), but in the pool of large over 6.7-inch display size smartphones, the 6.1-6.3-inch phones are still a refresh and hope for those who want compact-form-factor phones along with flagship-level specifications. Just a few months back, OnePlus introduced the OnePlus 13s, the compact Android flagship model in the market. Now, iQOO is rumoured to be working on a new small-screen smartphone next year. “OnePlus and iQOO, the two major sub-series, will launch small straight screens again next year,” a tipster mentioned in a post on Weibo. While the name of the device is unknown, several reports hint that the iQOO may launch it under the iQOO 15 series with a new compact model – iQOO 15 mini. Also Read: iQOO Neo 11 First Look Out; Pre-Orders Now Live Ahead Of Expected Launch Alongside iQOO 15
Honestly, the leaks are vague so far. Based on the Weibo post, the iQOO 15 Mini is expected to have a large 7,000mAh battery and may offer a flat display. According to the leak, it may deliver impressive gaming performance; however, the display bezels may not be as ultra-thin as we get in the flagship models. Another rumoured phone is the OnePlus 15s (in India), which is also expected to pack a large battery under the hood. Both of these smartphones are expected to be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 chipset, the flagship chipset by Qualcomm, which is yet to be announced officially.
The iQOO 15 mini is expected to launch next year, along with the iQOO 15 Ultra. However, the iQOO 15 may launch later this year, just like the past trends of the launches.
If you have noticed, neither OnePus nor iQOO, are expected to launch any “14-series” phones anytime soon. Instead, both tech giants are focusing on the next iQOO 15 and the OnePlus 15 series. This is so because several regions, including East Asia, believe that the number four is unlucky.
Due to negative reference with number 4 or 14 in this case, most of the Chinese tech giants skip such numbered smartphones, which can affect their sales. Hence, iQOO and OnePlus are rumoured to launch their next flagship model as “15”.
