At the recent Made On YouTube event, YouTube’s Global Head of Music, Lyor Cohen announced a set of upcoming tools on the platform that every music lovers were waiting for. The new feature introduced by the YouTube isn’t just about listening, rather than they are about experiencing.
One of the most-talked about features at Made on YouTube is the arrival of new release countdown and pre-saves. Later this, year, music lovers will be able to pre-save upcoming singles or albums on YouTube Music. Other than this, they will also be able to see a live countdown to the release on album details, artist profiles, and shelves.
Another major announcement made at the event is exclusive video drops. The feature is rolling out next year. With the arrival of video drops feature, artists will be able to share special content, such as thank-you videos, behind-the-scenes footage, or early sneak peeks, that too directly with their dedicated fans.
With the help of these new features, YouTube is building communities that surpass Spotify in both engagement and cultural influence. YouTube also leverages its massive global reach and recommendation algorithms. While Spotify suggests songs based on listening habits, YouTube can combine audio, video, and social trends to surface content that keeps fans engaged for longer periods.
