Apple’s iOS 26 update introduces the new Liquid Glass interface to iPhones – its biggest change in recent years. The new UI brings a fresh, fluid look across the system. Now, WhatsApp is reportedly testing the Liquid Glass interface for its app on iOS. This means that iPhone users will see a more adaptive look of the iOS 26 UI in the Meta-owned messaging platform as well.

WhatsApp Beta Shows Early Signs

WhatsApp feature tracker WABetaInfo recently spotted hints of Liquid Glass in WhatsApp Beta for iOS version 25.24.10.70. This suggests that the app is gradually implementing the interface to match Apple’s new design language. Once ready, users could see this major visual overhaul rolled out alongside the public release of iOS 26.

The redesign isn’t just about looks – it’s expected to touch buttons, menus, and even background layers, bringing depth and translucency while keeping the app clean and easy to use. Think of it as a more polished, responsive WhatsApp without changing how you actually navigate it.

Developers Are Preparing

Apple has already updated its developer tools like SwiftUI, UIKit, and AppKit APIs, allowing apps to adopt Liquid Glass features. WhatsApp is reportedly compiling beta builds with the iOS 26 SDK on Xcode, which means it’s testing the interface behind the scenes so the transition will feel smooth when it eventually rolls out.

A Gradual Rollout

The update is expected to come in phases. The first things to reflect the new look could be the bottom navigation bar, followed by buttons and in-app controls. A full transition will likely take a few updates before the entire app fully embraces Liquid Glass.

TRENDING NOW

Right now, the feature is still under development and isn’t even available to TestFlight beta testers. But once it’s ready, iPhone users could experience one of WhatsApp’s most noticeable design changes in years, making the app feel more modern, interactive, and visually engaging than ever before.
