Google launched the NotebookLM in almost 200 countries last year and now they are taking this tool to the next level with their new update. The AI-powered Audio Overviews feature is expanding to support over 50 languages, with the help of Gemini’s native audio smarts. To make things even easier, NotebookLM now includes a brand-new “Output Language” setting. With this latest update, Google isn’t just treating NotebookLM as a handy tool, rather it’s aiming to make it a game-changer for accessibility and education. Just think that a teacher gives a lesson on the Amazon rainforest, by compiling together resources in different languages like a research paper in English, a documentary in Portuguese, and an explainer in Spanish. Now, students can easily upload all these into NotebookLM and get an audio overview in the language they feel most comfortable with. It’s like having a personalised podcast that makes learning accessible, no matter what language you speak. It’s a simple but powerful way to break down language barriers and open up educational opportunities for everyone.
It’s still early days, and Google promises more upgrades are on the way. But if this rollout is anything to go by, NotebookLM is shaping up to be the multilingual AI assistant we never knew we needed.
