Yesterday, Starlink India’s prices created a stir online when the supposed rates for the service and hardware kit appeared briefly on the company’s website. Several media outlets and social platforms picked up the information which led to widespread speculation about how much Starlink in India will cost. Nevertheless, Starlink has clarified that these prices were not official and were part of a website glitch and test.
Lauren Dreyer, Vice President of Starlink Business Operations, addressed the situation on X, explaining that the Indian website is not yet live and the company has not announced service pricing or started taking orders in India. She confirmed that the visible numbers were ‘dummy test data’ caused by a configuration glitch, which was quickly corrected. Dreyer emphasized that the prices seen online do not reflect the actual cost of Starlink services in India.
Even with the confusion, Starlink is actively working toward getting live in India and bringing its satellite services to the country. The tech giant is mainly focused on getting government approvals to officially launch both the service and the dedicated website for Indian customers.
Dreyer expressed enthusiasm about connecting India with high-speed satellite internet and is looking forward to soon completing the regulatory norms and processes.
As per earlier reports and speculation, Starlink may be able to start its satellite-based internet services in India as early as the first quarter of 2026. Until the company announces anything officially, all information should be treated with utmost caution. For now, Indian customers waiting for the Starlink services have to wait a bit more for the official rollout to place orders and access the services.
Meanwhile, Elon Musk-led Starlink has assured users that the service is coming out soon, but official details, such as price and availability will be shared only after regulatory approvals.
