This year focused less on experimental designs and more on slimmer builds, better hinges, improved displays, and usable cover screens across price segments. Brands prioritised weight reduction, better multitasking software, and larger external displays, making foldables easier to use as primary phones. Based on these, here are the best foldable/flip phones that were launched in 2025.
The latest iteration of Samsung's Galaxy Z Fold series has outdone the other foldables in several ways. One of the main highlights is the thinness! It measures just 4.2mm when unfolded and 8.9mm when folded. Plus, it weighs just 215 grams, making it easy to carry and hold. The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 features an 8-inch 2x AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate and a 6.5-inch cover display. Powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset, it features a 200MP main, 10MP telephoto (3x), and 12MP ultra-wide camera.
Google’s Pixel 10 Pro Fold leaned more towards software refinement than hardware experimentation. It features a 8-inch inner OLED display and a 6.4-inch cover screen, both with 120Hz refresh rate. Powered by Google’s Tensor G5 chipset, the focus remained on AI features. The camera setup includes a 48MP primary sensor, along with a 10.8MP telephoto and a 10.5MP ultra-wide lenses.
Samsung kept the Flip 7 familiar but fixed a few everyday pain points. The phone comes with a larger 4.1-inch cover display that supports more apps without opening the device. When unfolded, it features a 6.9-inch AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate. It is powered by the Exynos 2500 chipset and 4300mAh battery. Camera hardware includes a 50MP main sensor paired with a 12MP ultra-wide.
The Vivo X Fold 5 features an 8.03-inch LTPO AMOLED inner display and a 6.53-inch cover screen, both supporting 120Hz refresh rates. The phone runs on the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset and packs a large 6000mAh battery with 80W fast wired charging support. Camera duties are handled by a 50MP main sensor with additional telephoto and ultra-wide lenses.
The phone features a large 4-inch cover display that supports full app usage, reducing the need to unfold it frequently. Inside, it has a 7-inch AMOLED display with a 165Hz refresh rate. The Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset powers the device, paired with a 50MP main camera and a 50MP ultrawide.
If we look at balance across design, performance, software, and long-term usability, the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 feels like the most complete foldable of 2025.
While many foldables have caught attention, but we still personally wait for the second iteration of the OnePlus Open (first foldable by OnePlus, launched back in 2023). What else? We are waiting to witness Samsung Tri-Fold with a 10-inch display, Snapdragon 8 Elite, and a 200 MP camera setup in the markets for daily use, but when will we get it? Only Samsung knows!
