Apple has recently previewed the iOS 26 update, which is currently under developer beta phase for development before the final public rollout. While you must be waiting for the stable version of iOS 26, Apple is reportedly soon to start the development on the next update — the iOS 27.
As per a report by Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, iOS 27 may witness a major shift in features with the advent of the first foldable iPhone. The report suggests that iOS 27 may bring software features focused on the iPhone fold. Based on the previous leaks and rumours, the book-style foldable phone by Apple is expected to launch in 2026.
Having said that, the regular iPhone 18 series models in 2026 may get limited OS innovations. While there is no mention of the particular features which may be witnessed with the iPhone Fold
Apple isn’t usually the first to jump on a new tech trend, and that’s exactly what’s happening with its foldable iPhone. While brands like Samsung and Huawei have already launched several foldables, Apple chose to wait until the design was more durable, especially when it came to reducing the crease on the screen.
The foldable iPhone is expected to have an infolding design, meaning it folds inward like a book, just like the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and its predecessors. If the leaks are true, it could launch alongside the regular iPhone lineup next fall. Leaked info hints at a 7.58-inch unfolded display, a titanium build, and dual 48MP cameras.
While iOS 27 features are said to be tailored specially for the iPhone fold, the first-ever foldable by Apple is also expected to have a steep price of around $2,000. For now, the details are still based on early industry reports. But as we get closer to the expected launch, we’ll likely hear more solid updates.
