The announcement took place at a Samsung event in Bengaluru, where the feature was demonstrated in action. A Mahindra BE 6 electric SUV was used to showcase how the new Digital Car Key works – a simple tap of the phone near the car door can unlock it, and the same device can be used to start the vehicle. news Also Read: Top 7 Gaming Smartphones Under Rs 35,000 For Power-Packed Performance

Digital Car Key Feature Explained

The new functionality will arrive in the Samsung Wallet app and will initially be compatible with select models under Mahindra’s Born Electric range.

After being set up, the digital key will be saved in the Wallet app, meaning users will be able to open their car via their phone alone.

In addition, Samsung is also intending to let users share their Digital Car Key with friends or family for a limited time. This will be useful if another individual needs temporary access to the vehicle. All access can be granted and managed through the app, allowing users to have full control over who can and can’t use their vehicle.

Security and Device Control

Samsung says the feature will come with strong security layers. If a Galaxy device is lost or stolen, the owner can remotely lock the phone, erase data, and even delete the digital key using the Samsung Find service. Access to the Wallet app itself will require biometric verification or a PIN, preventing unauthorised access to the car.

Samsung Wallet Expanding Beyond Payments

The Digital Car Key isn’t the only new addition to Samsung Wallet. The app recently gained support for live updates related to flights, train trips, and events. These appear on the always-on display or lock screen, giving users real-time information at a glance.
