The unfortunate incident is reported to have occurred in South Korea, where a Samsung Galaxy S25+ owner shared the incident on the company’s community forum (via SamMobile). The user recalls that the device suddenly began overheating while it was being used. A loud popping noise was heard, before the device burst into flames – resulting in minor burns on the user’s fingers. They quickly reacted and threw the phone on the floor, which saved them from a serious injury. news Also Read: Waiting For iPhone Foldable? Check 5 Best Foldable Phones To Buy Right Now In 2025

According to the photos shared on the forum, the S25+ could be seen with a charred frame and back panel. The display was also deformed, sticking out of the device. The device has since been handed over to the Samsung service centre, who cited the cause of the explosion as “unknown”.

Typically, such incidents occur due to charging malfunctions or when using third-party charging cables or adapters. However, in this case, the user claims that the device was not on charging when the explosion happened. The fire is being linked to internal factors, involving the battery management, heat dissipation, or chip overheating. According to a Gizmochina report, Samsung has issued a full refund to the user.

The case has reignited a past incident, where several Galaxy Note 7 devices were reportedly catching fire. With the new case in the spotlight, Galaxy S25 series users are concerned whether other models in the lineup like the Galaxy S25 and Galaxy S25 Ultra might be at risk, too.

Meanwhile, if you notice any abnormal heating while charging or using your smartphone, shut the device down and contact the manufacturer’s customer support to report the issue.
