Qualcomm Snapdragon 7 Plus Gen 3 launch: Qualcomm today launched the Qualcomm Snapdragon 7 Plus Gen 3 system-on-chip today. This new chip succeeds the Qualcomm Snapdragon 7+ Gen 2 chipset that was launched last year and powers smartphones such as Poco F5, Redmi Note 12 Turbo and the Realme GT Neo 5 SE. Qualcomm says that Snapdragon 7 Plus Gen 3 brings new-in-series on-device generative AI capabilities along with a 15 percent boost in CPU performance and a 45 percent boost in GPU performance compared to the Qualcomm 7 Plus Gen 2. Qualcomm Snapdragon 7 Plus Gen 3 availability

As far as availability is concerned, Qualcomm says that the Snapdragon 7 Plus Gen 3 chipset will be powering phones by OnePlus, Realme and SHARP. Qualcomm Snapdragon 7 Plus Gen 3 features and specifications

Coming to the specifications, the Qualcomm Snapdragon 7 Plus Gen 3 supports displays with a 4K resolution at 60Hz or a QHD+ resolution at 120Hz. Apart from this, it offers support for HDR10, HDR10+, Adaptive HDR10, and Dolby Atmos. The Qualcomm Snapdragon 7 Plus Gen 3 has a 2.8GHz CPU and Adreno GPU with support for Snapdragon Game Super Resolution, and Adreno Frame Motion Engine 2.0. On the memory front, this chipset supports 4200MHz LPDDR5x RAM and UFS 4.0 storage.

Talking about the camera, the 4nm Snapdragon 7 Plus Gen 3 supports up to 200MP photo capture, up to 108MP single camera at 30FPS, up to 64MP + 36MP dual camera at 30FPS or up to 36MP triple camera at 30FPS. It also supports 4K HDR video capture, slow-motion video captire at 1080p at 240FPS and Snapdragon Low Light Vision among others.

Coming to connectivity, this chip has Qualcomm FastConnect 7800 that brings support for Wi-Fi 7 with a peak speed of 5.8Gbps, Bluetooth 5.4, and Bluetooth Low Energy. It also has Snapdragon X63 5G modem for connectivity.

Lastly, coming to AI-based features, which is one of the highlights of this chip, the Qualcomm Snapdragon 7 Plus Gen 3 comes with the Qualcomm AI Engine and the Qualcomm Sensing Hub that bring support for always-sensing cameras to the devices it powers. More importantly, this chip brings on-device generative AI into the Snapdragon 7 series and the supported devices with support for a wide range of AI models including large language models (LLMs) such as Baichuan-7B, Llama 2, Gemini Nano and Zhipu ChatGLM.
