OnePlus could be gearing up to make a serious move in the mobile gaming space. A new leak suggests that the company is planning to launch a dedicated gaming smartphone and a gaming tablet. This might give the brand a first mover advantage as the space for dedicated gaming smartphones is mostly captured by Asus ROG Phone till now. 

OnePlus Gaming Tablet?

According to tipster Smart Pikachu, OnePlus is reportedly developing a gaming tablet that could feature a 165Hz refresh rate display. This would essentially make the device perfect for all types of gaming adventures. Even RedMagic’s top gaming devices, the 10S Pro and 10S Pro+, which launched globally, have a 144Hz refresh rate. Dialing up to 165Hz means that OnePlus might have to optimise its displays and tune them according to the hardware, which could be challenging. Nonetheless, this suggests that the device could offer the smoothest display from OnePlus yet.

OnePlus Pad 3 Already Packs Impressive Specs

OnePlus already has a blueprint for their gaming tablet ready as the OnePlus Pad 3 is already a flagship tablet. This tablet launched recently with the OnePlus 13s and offers strong specifications. It features a large 13.2-inch IPS LCD panel with a 144Hz refresh rate and is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset. It also gets a 13MP rear camera and 8MP front camera. The whole package gets a monster 12,140mAh battery with 80W fast charging as well. If OnePlus leverages this existing tablet as a foundation and integrates advanced cooling technology, dedicated gaming space and some cool RGB lights, they could deliver a great gaming tablet.

OnePlus is mostly focussed on the launch of its upcoming Nord 5 series in India, so details about the gaming tablet are currently under wraps. However, with leaks spreading across the internet about this new device, we could soon hear more information. As of now, nothing is confirmed, and these are merely speculations. But, with the brand already launching dedicated gaming accessories like the OnePlus 27W Freezing Point Magnetic Cooler, the idea of a gaming tablet doesn’t feel far-fetched.
