Apple announced its iOS 26 in June 2025 at its Worldwide Developer Conference, promising a host of features and upgrades to its devices. Now, it seems the tech giant is moving faster than ever with its software updates. As per the latest reports from Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, Apple could release its upcoming iOS 26.2 on Tuesday, 4 November, soon after releasing iOS 26.1 on Monday, 3 November. He mentions that this kind of quick turnaround is rare, and hence, unless there are any further issues, Apple would be sticking to its original plan of releasing iOS 26.1 for users at the start of the week, which is today.
With iOS 26.1, users will get a small but useful addition to their devices, including a ‘Tinted’ toggle for Liquid Glass. This update will allow users to read text easily. Nevertheless, it might slightly change the interface.
As per Mark Gurman, the developer beta of iOS 26.2 is expected to arrive on Tuesday, 3 November 2025, with a host of new upgrades and features. This will arrive alongside early beta versions of iPadOS, watchOS, and macOS.
As for features, the first beta may not introduce any major upgrades or enhancements, but Apple often saves significant changes for later testing stages. One of the best examples of this strategy is the introduction of the Tinted Toggle itself, which appeared only in the 4th beta of iOS 26.1.
If this happens, then it could mean that the initial beta 26.2 might be light on new enhancements and additions, and hence, the future builds could arrive quietly, pack in some interesting features as testing progresses.
The iOS 26.2 is mostly going to be a refinement-focused update, and hence, rather than a major overhaul, Apple might introduce some basic refinements. To recall, the tech giant has already confirmed that U.S. passport integration in Apple Wallet will be rolled out before the end of the year.
Another major upgrade to expect is the long-awaited end-to-end encryption for RCS messaging, which Apple previously said would arrive in a future software update.
The public rollout of iOS 26.2 is likely to happen in December, and while the update might not bring major changes, users can still expect smoother performance, several bug fixes, and a few pleasant surprises.
