Alcatel is officially launching its new V3 series in India on May 27. The series includes the Alcatel V3 Ultra, V3 Pro, and V3 Classic, three mid-range smartphones that introduce a brand-new display technology called 4-in-1 NXTPAPER. This will be India’s first smartphone series to feature NXTPAPER display technology. The landing page on Flipkart has already gone live and gives a clear look at the specifications and details. But, the main question is: What is NXTPAPER tech?
Alcatel’s NXTPAPER display isn’t a typical LCD. It blends a paper-like matte viewing experience with punchy colour output. This makes this display ideal for both eye comfort and visual clarity. There are four modes baked in the display. A regular mode for daily use, max ink mode that can run for up to 168 hours, ink paper mode for e-reading, and a standard mode for more traditional viewing. Alcatel has given a physical NXTPAPER key on the side that lets users switch modes without going into the settings.
The V3 Ultra is the top tier phone in the V3 series. This phone gets a 6.8-inch FHD+ display with a 120Hz refresh rate. The phone is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 6300 chip and gets 8GB of RAM plus another 8GB of virtual RAM, and 128GB storage onboard.
In terms of cameras it gets a triple rear setup with a 108MP main shooter, plus 8MP ultra-wide and 2MP depth sensors. It’s great to see mid range phones getting large cameras like a 108 MP sensor but, the final tuning and processing will matter a lot. There’s also an 8MP front cam for selfies and video calls. The main highlight of this Ultra phone is that it gets stylus support. This is an interesting move by Alcatel, as budget stylus phones are still quite rare in the market and this gives them a clear first-mover advantage. The phone also features dual speakers with support for DTS:X Sound and a 5,010mAh battery with 33W fast charging support. It comes in three colour options: Blue, Purple, and Champagne.
On the other hand, the V3 Pro brings plenty to the table with a 6.7-inch 120Hz display. Under the hood, it’s powered by the Dimensity 6300 chipset. It holds an advantage over the Ultra by offering 10GB of virtual RAM on top of the same 8GB of physical RAM. The phone features a 50 MP rear camera and packs a 5,200mAh battery with support for 18W charging.
The V3 Classic shares the same Dimensity 6300 chip and battery size as the Pro, offers 128GB of storage with microSD card support, NFC, and also features a 50 MP main camera. All three phones ship with a case, charging brick in the box.
Overall, all these phones are rumoured to be priced under Rs 30,000. With the new NXTPAPER display technology and solid specifications, they could be a good option for those who enjoy adopting new technology.
