Xiaomi 18 Pro series leaks point to rear display upgrades and improved cameras.
Xiaomi has confirmed that its new flagship lineup – the Xiaomi 17 series – is coming to India soon. The announcement was made at the Snapdragon Summit, where the company showed off the standard Xiaomi 17 powered by Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chip. Now, while the launch is confirmed, Xiaomi hasn’t revealed which models will make it to India. In China, the brand unveiled the Xiaomi 17, 17 Pro, and 17 Pro Max, but going by past launches, India might get them in phases. The star of the show is the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, making the Xiaomi 17 series the first to run on Qualcomm’s newest flagship processor. On the software side, the phones will ship with HyperOS 3 based on Android 16, offering the latest UI experience out of the box. On cameras, Xiaomi continues its tie-up with Leica, bringing a triple-lens setup – a 50MP main camera, 50MP ultrawide, and a 50MP telephoto with 5x zoom. The Pro Max variant goes one step further with a dual-screen design. The secondary display on the back can be used for notifications, AI features, or even turned into a mini gaming console with a case.

This is still a lot cheaper than the iPhone 17 Pro Max, putting Xiaomi’s flagship in a more accessible premium range.
For now, only the standard Xiaomi 17 has been confirmed for India. But looking at Xiaomi’s strategy, the Pro and Pro Max models could follow later. If the Pro Max makes it here, it’ll be interesting to see how it challenges Apple and Samsung in the premium space.
