OnePlus has steadily built a reputation for reliable software updates, and the company has been holding on its promise to keep more devices supported for longer. The company currently promises up to four major Android updates for its smartphones and tablets – not just for flagships, but also for select mid-range models. That means more users will get longer support without having to constantly upgrade to a new device. Also Read: OnePlus 15 Reappears On Geekbench, This Time With Flagship-Level Performance

What stands out here is the inclusion of mid-range Nord phones, which are now getting the same long-term software support as flagship models. Even the Pad Lite tablet has been added to the list, showing that OnePlus is extending its update strategy beyond just smartphones. While four years of updates is commendable, it’s no longer the industry benchmark. Brands like Samsung and Google now promise up to seven Android upgrades, even for some mid-range devices. Oppo and Motorola are offering five, putting OnePlus slightly behind in the race. For a company that once prided itself on standing out, this could be an area where users expect more.
On the software front, OnePlus is preparing to roll out OxygenOS 16, its next big update based on Android 16. Closed beta testing has already begun, which suggests a stable release isn’t far away. Once live, it will mark the start of the next update cycle for eligible devices.
For now, OnePlus fans can take comfort in knowing that the brand continues to support both flagship and mid-range phones.
