Oppo has finally released the Reno 13 series in the Indian market consisting of two phones – Oppo Reno 13 and Oppo Reno 13 Pro. And I got to review the Pro variant from the series. The smartphone delivers a premium look right out of the box. The device gets an aerospace-grade aluminium frame coupled with one-piece sculpted glass. In the camera department, Oppo has tried to do a lot of new things and the underwater shooting feature is a living proof of that.

The device has a clean design and after a long time, I found a camera island that doesn’t look larger than required. You get to see a rectangular module at the top left corner containing three sensors and a flash along with mentioning the AI Camera system. The device has flat sides along rounded edges and a flat display surrounded by ultra-thin bezels. In addition, the handset features a 6.83-inch 1.5K display along with a 120Hz refresh rate. The display of the device shows the colors perfectly.
For top-notch performance, the Oppo Reno 13 5G comes with the MediaTek Dimensity 8350 processor paired with 12GB LPDDR5X RAM and 256GB UFS 3.1 internal storage. The device showed no signs of lagging or heating while running multiple Chrome tabs or playing heavy games like COD Mobile.
And the ColorOS 15 is pretty user-friendly and offers better management of apps and stuff on the device. However, the bloatware is a major turnoff. And you will get to see multiple unnecessary pre-installed games as well. I’ll talk more about the performance in the full-fledged review of the device.
The smartphone also gets advanced cooling for unmatchable performance to support you in long hours of gaming. And the AI HyperBoost dedicated to gaming changes the whole scenario. It acts as a dashboard where you get all the tools that you need while gaming. The dual stereo speakers of the smartphone produce decent audio while gaming and event streaming. This is something that is slept upon in multiple mid-range devices.
The camera could be dubbed one of the most powerful aspects of the device. It sports a triple rear camera setup consisting of a 50MP Sony IMX890 primary shooter, a 50 MP JN5 telephoto shooter with Optical Image Stabilization (OIS), and an 8MP ultra wide-angle sensor.
For the sake of selfies and video calls, we get to see a 50MP front snapper. At the time of testing, the camera was able to produce decent photographs in different lighting conditions. What’s more, is that the series produced by the front sensor also successfully captured most of the details.
Oppo Reno 13 Pro houses a 5,800mAh battery that promises to keep you away from the charger for a long long period of time. The handset also supports 80W SuperVOOC fast charging support. The device got fueled up from 23 percent battery to 100 percent in 33 minutes.
The battery of the device drained at a pace of 10 percent per hour while streaming YouTube videos at full brightness and 1080p. Apart from that, it lost around 7% battery in half an hour while running COD Mobile. Once you fully fuel up the device, it can run for a day at least even while being connected to internet along with handling extensive tasks like gaming, streaming, and more. I also noticed some heating issues in the device at the time of charging for a few minutes only.
In a couple of days, I can say that the phone is impressive in terms of performance. And I also loved the charging speed considering it has a monstrous battery. If you are someone looking for a mid-ranged phone with more than impressive camera capabilities then this one is for you. However, you have to keep in mind that the device runs on the MediaTek Dimenity processor and you can get a smartphone with a Snapdragon processor in a similar price range. In addition, the bloatware could be a little irritating at time and you need to take care of the issue along with removing the useless pre-installed applications.
