We have recently witnessed the launch of the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7, Galaxy Z Flip 7, and Z Flip 7 FE. While Samsung is continuously improving its foldables every year, Apple is yet to launch its first-ever foldable phone! To their relief, fans can expect the launch of the iPhone Fold by 2026, a report suggested.
This is so because the iPhone Fold’s production line has been prepared to launch it next year. A report by ET News, Samsung Display has started preparing organic light-emitting diodes (OLEDs) for the rumoured foldable iPhone. The report further quoted industry sources suggesting that Samsung Display is preparing a foldable line for Apple at its A3 plant in Asan, South Chungcheong Province.
In fact, Samsung has been preparing a dedicated production line for Apple’s foldable OLED panels. The deal is reportedly exclusive, and the production capacity is expected to be much higher than Apple’s initial demand of 6–8 million units in the first year.
Apple is known for taking its time with new tech — the foldable iPhone is no different. While other brands like Samsung and Huawei have already released multiple foldable models, Apple waited to ensure a more durable design, especially when it came to reducing the visible crease on the display.
Reports say Apple only approved the project once Samsung was able to develop a screen that met its strict quality standards. It is possibly even more advanced than what Samsung uses in its own foldables, the report suggested.
As per the report, the foldable iPhone is tipped to use an infolding screen, meaning the display folds inward like a book. If leaks are to be believed, Apple plans to launch it alongside its regular iPhone lineup in the fall. What does it look like? Based on the prototype details, it may feature a 7.58-inch unfolded display and a titanium body. For photography, it may have dual 48MP cameras.
While the details are still in the early stage, and based on industry sources. As we will near the expected launch of the first-ever iPhone Fold, we may get more concrete information to rely on.
