Turn on captions for Instagram reels

Before we get started, make sure you update the Instagram app on your smartphone to the latest version. To do that, you can head to the App Store for iPhones and Google Play Store for Android phones. Search for the app and check if there’s any update. Update the app and then follow the steps below. Step 1: Open the Instagram app on your smartphone.

Step 2: Tap on the Reels tab located at the bottom next to the post (+) icon.

Step 3: Once you tap on the Reels tab, a random reel should start playing. Tap on the three horizontal dots on the side.

Step 4: A control panel for the video should now show up. Tap on Manage captions located above the QR code option.

Step 5: Toggle on Captions.

That’s it. Now, captions should be turned on for Instagram reels. It is worth noting that these captions will be auto-generated in English. The auto-generated captions are fairly accurate for most times so you are good to go.

As of now, there’s no other language for captions, however, we expect more languages to be added later.
