
Lok Sabha Election 2024 are about to end soon. The elections that began on April 19, 2024, will end on June 1, 2024. On May 25, eligible voters will cast their votes across 58 constituencies while on June 1, voters will cast their votes across 57 constituencies. To vote on the upcoming election dates, Indian citizens who don’t have a voter ID card will first have to get the card made to become eligible to vote. So, if you are a first-time voter, here is a step-by-step guide of how you can apply for the voter ID card online.
But before we take you through the step, here is a list of documents that you will require in order to fill the form.
1. A recent passport size photograph
2. Proof of address
3. Proof of age
4. Proof of identity
Step 1: Visit the Voters’ Service Portal website by the Election Commission of India. Alternatively, you can also click here to visit the site.
Step 2: If you are a first-time voter, click on the Sign-up option on the top right corner of the website.
Step 3: Fill in your mobile number, email address, Captcha code and then click on the Continue button.
Step 4: Now fill in your first name, last name and password. Then click on the Request OTP button.
Step 5: Enter the OTP received on your mobile number and then click the Verify button.
Step 6: Then go the home page again and click on the Login button on the top right corner of the website to visit your account on the platform.
Step 7: Fill in the form based on the applicability.
– Form 6 for first time voters.
– Form 6A for NRIs who don’t have citizenship of any other country.
– Form M for Kashmiri Migrants who want to cast vote from a special polling station in Delhi, Jammu and Udhampur.
– Form 12C for Kashmiri Migrants who want to cast vote through postal ballot.
Step 8: Upload your photograph and other documents as mentioned in the form.
Step 9: After checking all the details, click on the Submit button.
