Story Highlights

  • Skull and Bones gets delayed again due to the poor performance of other Ubisoft titles.
  • The pirate simulator will release in 2024.
  • This year, Ubisoft will release Assassin's Creed Mirage.

No matter how ambitious Ubisoft is about its upcoming game, Skull and Bones, the company keeps postponing its release. As you’d expect, the studio has announced that it’s delaying the release of the pirate simulator game again.

If counting is to be done, this is the sixth time, Ubisoft is doing this. This time though, they have a reason that’s taking its release further to the next year.

Ubisoft cancels Skull and Bones for this year and plans it for next year

Ubisoft in a press release has announced a couple of things. It has confirmed that it is canceling three games, but hasn’t revealed their names. The studio said it is surprised with the poor sales of Mario + Rabbids Speaks of Hope and Just Dance.

The company also confirmed that it’s postponing Skull and Bones. The game’s release will be pushed to 2024. Now, this is the sixth time the game’s getting postponed. If you aren’t following the game, you’d be surprised to know that it was first showcased back in 2018, that’s six years from now.

Well, Skull and Bones isn’t the only game that Ubisoft is failing to release. The company also announced the Prince of Persia remake a few years back, which was not talked about much. And so, everyone believed it may get shelved. But thankfully, Ubisoft confirmed that it isn’t canceling the game.

However, with how things are going, the remake’s release could be far away. In addition to this, Ubisoft has other great projects that we wish don’t get postponed. Two of them are the upcoming Assassin’s Creed: Mirage and the Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora.

The former is pretty exciting since it will be the AC title that will get back the franchise to its roots by focusing more on stealth and how older AC games were. As for the Avatar game, its visuals looked pretty promising in the trailer and fans are expecting an open-world game, which Ubisoft is yet to vow.
