Microsoft is quietly gearing up to make the Xbox app for Windows the ultimate PC gaming hub. The latest beta suggests that the Xbox app could soon transform into a one-stop gaming destination. Early testers can now see all their installed games from Steam, Epic Games Store, Battle.net, Ubisoft, and Riot Games directly inside the Xbox PC app.
The new all-in-one launcher direction honestly aligns well with Xbox’s recent announcements. Their strategy shift to turn the Xbox app into a full gaming ecosystem is exciting and honestly, a dream come true for all gamers. This update just makes it super easy to manage all your games in one place. The new unified library system detects games installed via other launchers and neatly organizes them within the Xbox app.
Once added, you’ll see a thumbnail, game title, and source launcher icon. You can launch the game or open its native launcher directly from the Xbox interface. It also gives users flexibility and customisation to hide certain games from view if you don’t want them to show up.
While it’s worth noting that these games won’t get Xbox-specific features like achievements or cloud saves, the focus here is clearly on better organisation and easier access.
Microsoft’s push to improve gaming on Windows handhelds is one of the key reasons behind this new update. With the recent announcement of the new ASUS ROG Ally made in collaboration with Microsoft, Xbox is clearly aiming to improve its interface and deliver a better experience for gamers. Some users are already spotting new Xbox full-screen experience settings popping up. According to Microsoft, this feature is still in testing but will roll out first on the new Xbox-branded ROG Ally devices launching later this year.
If you can’t wait and want a taste of what Xbox is cooking then you can also test this new Xbox app library experience. Here are the steps that you need to follow:
