Google May Bring ‘Scroll And Translate’ Feature For Circle To Search Soon, Tested On Pixel Phones: Here’s How It Works

If you have tried Google’s Circle to Search feature, then you know it is about to get even smarter. As per a report by Android Authority, some Pixel users are already spotting a new feature called Scroll and Translate. This tool is essentially an extension of the live translation option that was previously tipped to arrive on Circle to Search. While it hasn’t rolled out widely yet, a handful of Google app beta users have found it working on their Pixel devices. How the feature works

At the moment, there’s no dedicated “Live Translate” button inside Circle to Search. Instead, you can tap on the Translate icon and then select the Scroll and Translate option. Once enabled, the feature attempts to translate the text on your entire screen, including scrolling webpages. Unlike past methods, where you had to copy-paste or select portions of text, this aims to give you a single, continuous translation. Since this is still in testing, Scroll and Translate come with a few rough edges. It doesn’t allow you to crop or pick a specific section of the page; everything on the screen gets translated together. Processing can also take a little time, and the translated text overlay might feel slightly cluttered. That said, it’s still more convenient than switching back and forth between apps or translating lines one by one. Who Will Get It First?

For now, the feature seems limited to Pixel phones running the Google app beta, and there’s no sign of it on non-Pixel devices. Interestingly, Google’s app code has alternated between calling it Live Translate and Scroll and Translate, which could create confusion since a different Live Translate feature already exists on Pixel phones. It remains to be seen what name Google settles on when the tool officially rolls out.
