iOS 18 is all set to bring a lot of changes to multiple applications on the iPhones. Despite being a little inactive on AI features, Apple is still bringing some changes to the Maps app that will be more than useful for people. Some of the prominent changes are custom routes, hiking trails, saving favorites, search here, notes, and library. Custom routes: Apple Maps will now allow users to plan out specific hiking routes according to their preferences. At a trailhead, you can tap on the ‘Create a Custom Route’ button to churn out a route of your liking. Here, you can set up the starting points and other details. However, the Maps app will not let you create any unsafe route for trekking. And the best part is that route creation is not limited to hikes and trails only. You can add any pinned spot to the map, tap on the more option, and choose Create Custom Route. Saving favorites: You can now save your custom routes, trails, or hikes by adding them to the library. For the same, you just need to tap find a relevant route and tap on the ‘Add to Library’ button. In addition, you can also rename and add information to a particular hike and can even download the route for offline usage. Library: All the content that you save from the Maps app like guides, routes, pins, and locations will be stored in the library section. And that’s not it, the library will also show you all the Recently Added Content in a single place.
Search Here: With iOS 18, Apple has made it easy to search locations with the ‘Search Here’ button. For example, if you look up a place and then tap search, it will search in the area on your screen instead of the physical location. When you zoom in on a particular location, you will see a ‘Search Here’ button to get all the details of a particular place.
