Samsung may use microLED displays in next years Galaxy Watch

But it looks like the company may be planning another major decision. A SamMobile report has suggested that Samsung created a team last year to commercialise microLED displays for Galaxy smartwatches. The company is currently using microLED panels on its televisions, so making commercial mciroLED displays for smartwatches should not be difficult for Samsung. If Samsung is manufacturing microLED displays for smartwatches, it is possible Apple would also begin using them for its future smartwatches. In fact, previous rumours have claimed that Apple may be planning to bring microLED panel for the second-generation Apple Watch Ultra. The microLED panels are being preferred over OLED displays for high-end products because of their better quality. microLED displays not only offer as high brightness but it also has better energy efficiency. These panels also offer better sunlight legibility, as compared to OLED panels.

Apple is already using microLED displays on its iPads and MacBooks, but the plan to use it for the Apple Watch might save the company some manufacturing costs, leading to better profits.

Apple launched the Watch Series 8 last year as an upgrade to the Watch Series 7. It has narrower bezels and features such as Emergency SOS via Satellite, letting users contact emergency services through satellite communication should they need them in an area with no network connectivity. Apple also launched its first ultra-premium smartwatch called the Apple Watch Ultra alongside. It has an extra reprogrammable button and a larger size, which Apple claims is best-suited for people who like to go on adventures such as mountain biking, trekking, hiking, among others.
