Kuo said the AirPods with an entry-level price tag — rumoured to launch as AirPods Lite — will start shipping in the second half of 2024. However, he also said that it is possible the launch may be delayed until the first half of 2025. The AirPods Lite may launch under $99. But interestingly, Kuo does not refer to these AirPods as AirPods Lite, so maybe this is not the name the new AirPods could end up having. Apple may also share a plan for the manufacturing of the next-generation AirPods Max model with the new suppliers. That would mean that the AirPods Max 2 may arrive around the same time as the AirPods Lite. The price and details of the AirPods Max 2 are not clear right now, but considering the first-generation AirPods Max were priced higher than the rest of the models, you can expect the AirPods Max second-generation to cost higher than the new AirPods models.
Kuo’s prediction about new products come at a time when Apple is said to be focusing on its mixed reality headset. A Bloomberg report previously said that because Apple is so occupied with the final stages in the development of the mixed reality headset, its other products, such as iOS and even new hardware, may take a backseat.
