POCO C75 5G review in 10 points: Everything you need to know

The Poco C75 5G is the company’s latest smartphone in the sub-10,000 rupee category. Starting at Rs. 8,500, it is an entry-level Android phone sporting Xiaomi HyperOS on top of Android 14. 1. Design: Right off the bat, the phone feels light and slim. It is made of plastic but comes with a good fit and finish. The power button doubles up as a side-mounted fingerprint sensor. It works fine but the buttons are not tactile enough.

2. Peripherals check: The POCO C75 has a 3.5mm headphone jack and a dual SIM tray with a dedicated SD card slot. You also have a USB-C port for charging and wired data transfer.

3. POCO C75 display: The Poco C75 has a 6.88-inch HD+ LCD screen with thick bezels on all sides. It has 600nits peak brightness which makes it easy to use outdoors. While the screen’s resolution limits the video quality, the speakers are fairly loud but lack detail. However, you can connect a wired or wireless headset to watch videos and play games.

4. POCO C75 Cameras: While it is the only phone to have 50MP Sony sensors at this price, the results are a mixed bag. You get acceptable daylight photos, indoor shots have some grain to them, and low-light results have noticeable grains. However, at this price, this is a pretty simple point-and-shoot camera.

5. POCO C75 RAM and storage: The global variant on POCO’s website has 6GB RAM in the base model, but the Indian model has only 4GB RAM with 64GB storage. Around 20GB of this storage is taken up by pre-loaded apps, which you can uninstall. You can also use the microSD card to expand the storage to 1TB, but that too has its limitations.

6. Performance: Poco is using a Snapdragon 4s Gen 2 chip for this phone. We experienced some lag and longer launch times for WhatsApp and YouTube apps in our testing. It can run light games like Subway Surfers easily, and you can also play games like BGMI on low graphics settings.

7. User experience and updates: The Poco C75 is using Xiaomi HyperOS on top of Android 14. The overall interface is simple and has a couple of good add-on features, but you will experience the phone occasionally slowing down. As for the update, it is running Android 14 which is already one generation old, and you get 2 OS updates with this phone. Ideally, it should’ve shipped with Android 15 out of the box.

8. Battery and charging: Packing a 5100 mAh battery, this phone will easily last a full day of normal usage. You also get an 18-watt charger in the box that takes around 2 hours to deliver a full charge.

9. The 5G experience: This can be a mixed experience for you. The Poco C75 5G only supports Jio 5G. If you’re using any other network like Airtel or Vi, you can’t use 5G on this phone. While Poco isn’t the only brand with this setup, it wasn’t mentioned on the box, and I didn’t have a Jio SIM while testing so this was essentially a 4G phone for my usage.

10. Poco C75 review Verdict:

While you can’t expect a sub-10,000 rupee phone to have an amazing camera or display, you expect all the features to work. However, the Poco C75 ships an older version of Android, with almost half the storage taken up by bloatware. And you also need a Jio SIM to use 5G on this phone.

But if you’re okay with these compromises, and already have a Jio SIM, you can consider this phone.
