Artificial Intelligence was one of the biggest talking points at Reliance’s latest AGM. Among several AI announcements, one feature that grabbed attention is the new Jio AI Call Agent. Think of it as an AI assistant that can join your phone calls whenever you need help. The interesting part is that you won’t need a separate app for it. Instead, Jio says the feature is built directly into its network. news Also Read: Jio's new Rs 55 plan offers 1,000+ live TV channels: Here's everything included

You will simply need to say “Hey Jio” during a call to activate the AI assistant. Once enabled, it can listen to the conversation with your permission and help with different tasks while the call is still going on. news Also Read: Netflix users will now need a unique email ID for every profile

What can Jio AI Call Agent do?

One of the main features is live call transcription. The AI can convert conversations into text and automatically create notes from the discussion. The feature could be useful during office meetings, client calls, interviews, or even conference calls where you don’t want to keep writing things down manually. news Also Read: Vodafone Idea postpaid users now get free Spotify Premium for three months

The AI can also generate call summaries after the conversation ends. Along with that, it can prepare action points, reminders, and follow-up tasks based on the discussion.

The good part is that Jio says the feature will support multiple Indian languages as well.

Apart from this, Jio is also bringing the feature to conference calls. The company claims that the AI can identify up to 10 different speakers during a group call and prepare transcripts accordingly.

Missed adding someone to the conference call? Jio says you can simply ask the AI assistant to bring that person into the call without manually dialling the number.

Well, Jio doesn’t want this AI agent to be limited to call summaries. According to the company, you will also be able to ask the AI to perform certain tasks while they continue talking. For instance, it can help book a cab, order food, reserve a restaurant table, or schedule a meeting.

So instead of switching between apps during an ongoing conversation, the AI can handle those tasks in the background.

When will it be available?

Jio says the AI Call Agent will be rolled out to its subscribers later this year. However, the company is yet to reveal an exact launch date. It is also unclear whether the feature will be available free of cost for all Jio users or if it will be bundled with a specific plan.

For now, it looks like Jio wants to make AI a part of everyday phone calls instead of keeping it limited to chatbots and standalone apps.
