Vivo is known for pushing the boundaries of smartphone photography. The X200 series was just a demo of what Vivo is planning to do in the smartphone camera segment. The X200 ultra was one phone that demonstrated the true potential of a smartphone camera. Now with the X300 Ultra they seem to be taking things to the next level. The latest buzz comes from the ever-reliable Digital Chat Station, who spilled the beans. Also Read: Vivo X300 Series Tipped To Launch In October With Big Camera Upgrades
According to a recent report, the Vivo X300 Ultra will feature three camera sensors, each rocking a 200MP resolution. This would be a world’s first and would make this a completely insane spec on paper. This isn’t even the best part. The real kicker is that the primary sensor is rumoured to support a multifocal and continuous optical zoom function. This is similar to the continuous optical zoom hardware that has been an exclusive feature of Sony’s top-tier Xperia 1 series, like the latest Xperia 1 VII. For those who don’t know, this isn’t just switching between a few fixed zoom levels. Sony’s tech allows its telephoto lens to offer a continuous range. On the Xperia 1 VII, it’s 85-170mm, which is 3.5x to 7.1x optical zoom. This means there’s an actual, tiny moving part within the lens that gives smooth and lossless optical zoom, just like a real camera lens.
If the X300 Ultra is indeed bringing this technology to the Vivo lineup, then they might also get a custom Sony sensor to pull off this photographic magic trick. This could be a total game changer as combining this technology with Vivo’s post processing would create a camera magic that would appeal to the phone photography enthusiasts.
While the Vivo X200 Ultra recently made its global debut, it seems the X300 Ultra is already in development. An exact release date is still under wraps, but based on previous Vivo flagship launches, we’re likely looking at an October 2025 timeframe.
