Tesla has started hiring in India and the company has opened thirteen positions based out in Mumbai and Delhi. Here's all you need to know.

Elon Musk has been planning to get Tesla into Indian territory for a long time now. And the latest meeting between him and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has most likely opened the gate. In a recent development, Tesla has updated some job postings on LinkedIn which could mean the company is finally getting serious for its debut in the Indian market. As of now, the automobile giant has posted 13 job openings on the LinkedIn page ranging from both back-end and customer-facing roles. Pretty recently, Elon Musk met with Narendra Modi on the latter’s United States visit.

Tesla is finally setting its foot in the Indian market

Tesla, as of now, is looking to fill multiple positions in various departments. Out of all of them, around five job roles are based in Mumbai and Delhi. Other roles, such as Customer Engagement Manager and Delivery Operations Specialist, are only available in Mumbai. All the positions listed by the company are:

  • Inside Sales Advisor
  • Customer Support Supervisor
  • Customer Support Specialist
  • Service Advisor
  • Order Operations Specialist
  • Service Manager
  • Tesla Advisor
  • Parts Advisor
  • Business Operations Analyst
  • Store Manager
  • Service Technician

Tesla has been eyeing to enter the Indian market for the last few years. Previously, the company restricted its interest due to the high import duties in the Indian market on foreign-made cars. For your information, the taxes on imported cars can go up to 110%.

In order to woo more global players in the EV segment, the Indian government has reduced the customs duty from 110% to 70% on all the cars that are valued above $40,000. And with this, we can get to see a sudden surge in the Indian EV market with new players coming in.
