From June 1, individuals can get a driving license directly from private driving training centres. This means they no longer have to visit the government RTOs that conduct tedious and time-consuming tests to issue driving licenses. Individuals can apply for a driving license online via the following Parivahan website https://parivahan.gov.in/parivahan/.

Once you are on the Parivahan website, tap on Driving License. Then select the state and apply for a learner or driving license. Then the process shall be listed in front of you. Do as per the prompts and apply for the license.

The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways announced the rules recently. However, check with your nearby private driving centres to know the full details of the process.

In addition to this, there are some updates to the fines for minors. Minors caught driving will be imposed fines of Rs 25,000, and the vehicle registration card will be cancelled. Further, if the minor is charged, he won’t be eligible to get a license until he/she turns 25.
