Qualcomm Snapdragon 4s Gen 2 chipset launched in India: Check details

Qualcomm hosted its first ever Snapdragon for India event in New Delhi today. At the event, the company launched the Snapdragon 4s Gen 2 chipset. This new chipset is aimed at making 5G available in budget handsets. Besides bringing 5G to low-budget devices, this chipset also features India’s indigenously developed navigation system Navigation with Indian Constellation (NavIC) to the budget smartphones.

“The Snapdragon 4s Gen 2 Mobile Platform is a significant leap forward in making 5G technology more accessible, so more people can navigate the world at 5G speeds,” Chris Patrick, senior vice president and general manager of mobile handsets, Qualcomm Technologies, said at the company’s Snapdragon for India event.

Qualcomm Snapdragon 4s Gen 2 features and specifications

Talking about the specifications, the 4nm Qualcomm Snapdragon 4s Gen 2 offers Snapdragon 5G Modem-RF System with speeds up to 1Gbps along with Qualcomm Wi-Fi 5, Bluetooth 5.1, GPS and NavIC for connectivity. On the display front, the Snapdragon 4s Gen 2 chipset supports a Full HD+ display with a maximum screen refresh rate of up to 90Hz.

Coming to the audio, the chipset features support the Qualcomm Aqstic audio codec, the Qualcomm Aqstic smart speaker amplifier and the Qualcomm aptX Adaptive audio a 96kHz.

Now comes the processor. The chipset is backed by a Qualcomm Kryo CPU with a 64-bit architecture. This processor has two performance cores that clock speeds up to 2GHz and six efficiency cores that clock speeds up to 1.8GHz. This processor is coupled with the Qualcomm Adreno GPU, LP-DDR4x RAM and up to 2133 MHz of storage space.

Coming to the camera, the Snapdragon 4s Gen 2 supports up to 16MP + 16MP dual camera setup with 30FPS zero shutter lag. It also supports up to 32MP single camera with 30 FPS zero
shutter lag configuration. On the video front, the chipset supports 1080p single video capture at 60fps and 1080p dual video capture at 30fps. It also supports slow-motion video capture with 720p resolution at 120fps. Additional camera features that this chipset supports include video image stabilization, face detection and Multi-Frame Noise Reduction (MFNR).

On the charging front, this chip supports Qualcomm Quick Charge 4+ technology. It also supports USB 3.2 Gen1 and USB Type-C.

Qualcomm Snapdragon 4s Gen 2 availability

As far as availability is concerned, Qualcomm said that the Snapdragon 4s Gen 2 will arrive on Xiaomi smartphones launching before the end of this year.
