IRCTC Down: Just ahead of festival season, when people are rushing to book their train tickets to reach their hometown or desired location, the online train ticket booking platform IRCTC goes down. The website, as well as the app, has faced a massive outage this morning. Thousands of users have reportedly struggled to book train tickets this Diwali. As per the outage detecting platform, Downdetector, over 5000 users have faced issues with the IRCTC platform. At 10:54 AM, 5101 reports have been reported. 48 percent of users have faced issues with the IRCTC website, while 37 percent of users reportedly witnessed difficulty in opening the IRCTC app. The rest 14 percent of users couldn’t book the tickets even after accessing the platform. As soon as the IRCTC went down, several users took to their X (formerly Twitter) accounts to share their frustration. One of the users said, “IRCTC servers are powered by Indian Railways’ WiFi – that explains everything.” While another said, “What is wrong with @IRCTCofficial during Tatkal hours? Yesterday, payments were not working. Today the website itself is down. Worst possible service. What is @RailMinIndia @AshwiniVaishnaw doing? Only Promoting Swadeshi Apps based out of the US?”

It is a crucial time for users in India to book their Tatkal ticket just ahead of the Diwali festival. And facing an outage at this time is leaving thousands of users frustrated and helpless.
The IRCTC platform is back to normal usage. But if the problem still persists, then there are several other platforms that you can try to book train tickets:
