Qualcomm has recently introduced the Snapdragon 7s Gen 3 processor. This one is the base variant of the Snapdragon 7 series processors. However, the chip comes with some major improvements as compared to the Snapdragon 7s Gen 2 chipset. As mentioned by Qualcomm, the CPU of the latest offering is 20% faster than its predecessor. It includes four Cortex-A720 cores and four Cortex-A520 minute cores. The A720 cores are clocked at 2.5GHz, and the A520 are clocked at 1.8GHz. The Snapdragon 7s Gen 3 comes with a lightning-fast GPU that offers 40% better speed than the 7s Gen 2 processor. It also gets an Adaptive Performance Engine for better gaming performance, 144Hz refresh rate support at WFHD+ resolution, and Adreno Fast Blend for quick rendering. Leaks regarding the GPU suggest that it is none other than Adreno 810. Don’t get confused by the moniker of GPU. A representative from Snapdragon told Android Authority that Adreno GPU used here has its name due to new architecture and it is not a flagship offering. In addition, Qualcomm has also claimed that the processor will exhibit 30% better AI performance clubbed with multi-language translation or transcription. However, Qualcomm has said nothing about the support for the Gemini Nano AI model. The processor also gets two camera-centric AI features – AI Video Retouch for real-time tone mapping and AI Remosaic which is used to produce ultra-high resolution images.
In the photography department, the chip will support up to 200MP shots, 64MP shots, and up to 21MP+21MP+21MP triple camera shots, along with 4K HDR video support. Other key features include Qualcomm Quickcharge 4+ tech, WiFi 5E, Bluetooth 5.4, improved power saving, etc. Qualcomm announced that the first device with the Snapdragon 7s Gen 3 processor will be shipped by Xiaomi in September. Later on, Realme, Sharp, and Samsung will also launch devices working on the latest mid-tier chipset by Qualcomm.
