Share Smartphones in 2025 aren’t just about raw performance anymore – they’re all about being thinner, lighter, and sleeker than anything we’ve seen before. Apple’s brand-new iPhone Air, announced at its “Awe Dropping” event, is taking on Samsung’s Galaxy S25 Edge, which launched earlier this year. Both are stunning examples of design pushing boundaries, but they approach the balance of style and performance in different ways. Here’s how the two compare.
The iPhone Air is officially the thinnest iPhone ever, measuring just 5.6mm. Samsung isn’t far behind with the Galaxy S25 Edge at 5.8mm, but the South Korean tech giant manages to keep its device slightly lighter at 163 grams, compared to Apple’s 165 grams. Both phones use titanium frames with toughened glass – Apple’s Ceramic Shield 2 and Samsung’s Gorilla Glass Ceramic 2.
Apple gives the iPhone Air a 6.6-inch OLED display with a resolution of 1,260 x 2,736 pixels, while Samsung fits a slightly larger 6.7-inch AMOLED 2X QHD+ screen (1,440 x 3,120 pixels). The S25 Edge wins on sharpness, but Apple’s focus is on brightness – the Air reaches a record 3,000 nits for better outdoor visibility. Both devices support a smooth 120Hz refresh rate.
Apple has gone minimalist here, offering a single 48MP rear camera in a unique “plateau” bump. Samsung, on the other hand, brings in more flexibility with a 200MP main sensor and 12MP ultra-wide camera. On the front, Apple iPhone Air houses an 18MP selfie camera with smart AI features like Center Stage. Samsung, on the other, has equipped the Galaxy S25 Edge with a 12MP front camera.
Apple’s iPhone Air is powered by the A19 Pro chip – the same chipset that also powers the new iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max. Samsung’s Galaxy S25 Edge runs on Qualcomm’s flagship Snapdragon 8 Elite processor paired with 12GB of RAM. Both are fast, but Apple’s chips usually lead in pure speed and efficiency.
The iPhone Air carries a modest 3,149mAh battery, while Samsung squeezes in a larger 3,900mAh unit despite its slim frame.
On pricing, Apple starts the iPhone Air at Rs 1,19,900, while Samsung offers the Galaxy S25 Edge at a slightly lower Rs 1,09,999.
If you’re after the lightest, brightest, and most portable iPhone ever, the iPhone Air is the obvious pick. But if battery life and a more versatile camera setup are higher on your list, the Galaxy S25 Edge makes a strong case.
