iPhone 20 Or First Foldable iPhone May Finally Get Under-Display Selfie Camera

Apple is preparing some serious upgrades for its 20th anniversary iPhone. Well, the next major series will be the iPhone 18, which will make its debut in 2026. However, a latest report suggests that 2027 is expected to bring the iPhone with one of the much-awaited upgrades so far – a hidden front camera under display, which might debut with the iPhone 20 series. As per the renowned Chinese tipster Digital Chat Station on Weibo, “Apple plans to release an under-display front camera on its smartphones in 2027.” On the other hand, the 2026 iPhone 18 Pro models are rumoured to get the under-display Face ID technology. Android Phones With Under-Display Selfie Camera

Apart from iPhones, the tipster also suggested that Android devices may also launch similar features around the same time. This may combine the 3D under-display face recognition tech with the under-display camera on the front. But it must be noted that several Android phones already have an under-display camera, such as the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6. However, Samsung later switched it back to the regular selfie camera inside a punch hole-shaped cutout. This is solely because the image quality suffers. Some reports also hint that the first-ever foldable iPhone may bring this tech. The interesting upgrade would be the use of a 24MP selfie camera, as some rumours suggest. This is because all the existing under-display cameras are settled by 4-8MP so far. Not only that, it will be interesting to see how Apple will overcome the image quality issues with the under-display camera. 

Apart from the addition of an under-display camera on iPhone 20 (or the first-ever foldable iPhone), Apple is also expected to bring several other important upgrades on its 20th anniversary. Another crucial rumour that is worth attention is that Apple may bring a full edge-to-edge display with curves all around the four edges.
