Barely a month after the iPhone 17 series hit stores, early rumours about the iPhone 18 lineup are already making the rounds. According to a new leak, Apple is preparing to shake things up with fresh colour options for the iPhone 18 Pro – including shades that have never been seen before on an iPhone. The leak comes from tipster Instant Digital on Weibo (via MacRumors), who claims that the iPhone 18 Pro will launch in at least three new colourways – Burgundy, Coffee, and Purple. While Purple isn’t exactly new to iPhone users, Apple’s previous purple shades have been lighter – such as the Lavender tones on the iPhone 11, iPhone 12, and iPhone 14. The upcoming variant could feature a deeper, more refined hue. Also Read: iPhone 17 Is More Prone To Mobile Scams Than Pixel 10 Pro, Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7, Moto Razr+ 2025?
Burgundy and Coffee, however, are expected to be entirely fresh additions. The Coffee finish is said to have a darker, more muted tone – something that could resemble a blend between bronze and graphite. It might be Apple’s way of adding warmth to the Pro lineup without going too flashy. The Burgundy option, on the other hand, is expected to bring a deep, rich shade that feels more premium and distinct from Apple’s usual minimalist choices. Also Read: Beyond OpenAI ChatGPT! Interestingly, the tipster also claimed that Apple still won’t offer a black colour option for the iPhone 18 Pro.
Apart from the fresh colours, the iPhone 18 Pro is also expected to bring some design and performance upgrades. It could feature a 6.26-inch LTPO OLED display with 1.5K resolution and adopt HIAA (Hole-in-Active-Area) technology. This would allow Apple to move the Face ID components under the screen, leaving only the selfie camera visible.
Apple is expected to use TSMC’s next-generation 2nm process to build the A20 chip for the iPhone 18 Pro. This new processor is said to be more efficient and better at managing heat, which could help the phone run cooler during demanding tasks. It’s also expected to handle Apple Intelligence features more fluidly, hinting at deeper AI integration across the system.
On the launch front, reports suggest Apple may introduce the iPhone 18 lineup in September 2026, alongside the next-generation iPhone Air and the company’s first iPhone Fold. The standard iPhone 18 and iPhone 18e models are rumoured to follow a few months later, possibly in Spring 2027 – a shift from Apple’s usual all-at-once release strategy.
