Apple unveiled the next generation iPhone 17 models on Tuesday, September 9, at its Awe Dropping event. The new lineup – including the iPhone 17, iPhone 17 Pro, iPhone 17 Pro Max, and iPhone Air – was launched alongside the Apple Watch Ultra 3, Watch Series 11, and Watch SE 3. With the iPhone 17 launch, Apple has officially discontinued last year’s iPhone 16 Pro models along with higher storage configurations of the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus.
Apple’s official website now only lists the single 128GB storage variant the iPhone 16, priced at 69,900. The company has discontinued the higher 256GB and 512GB models for the standard model.
Meanwhile, the iPhone 16 Plus is only listed in two configurations – 128GB and 256GB – as the 512GB option has been delisted from the website.
However, e-commerce platforms will continue to sell the discontinued storage variants of both the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus till stocks last.
The iPhone 16 sports a 6.1-inch Super Retina XDR OLED screen, while the Plus model features a 6.7-inch display. Both devices come with up to 2000 nits peak brightness, Dynamic Island, and Ceramic Shield protection.
The iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus are powered by Apple’s A18 chipset, featuring a 6-core CPU, 5-core GPU, and a 16-core Neural Engine. Both models support Apple Intelligence features. The devices come with IP68 rating for dust and water resistance. The iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus introduced a Camera Control button for greater control over photography and videography tools.
Both iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus are equipped with dual rear cameras, featuring a 48MP Fusion main sensor with 2x optical-quality zoom and a 12MP ultra-wide lens. The cameras support Spatial Video and image capturing. On the front, the devices house a 12MP TrueDepth camera for selfies and video calls.
The iPhone 16 is claimed to deliver up to 22 hours of video playback on a single charge, while the iPhone 16 Plus is said to notch it up to 27 hours.
