Apple is said to be working on a foldable iPhone for quite some time now and leaks have already given us an idea of what to expect. The first ever foldable from the Cupertino-based tech giant is shaping up to be an interesting device, courtesy of the leaks. A new report now suggests that the rumoured iPhone Fold, debuting in 2026, could feature a smaller screen than the recently launched Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7. news Also Read: How Apple’s ‘Find My iPhone’ Helped Bust Gang Behind 40,000 Stolen Phones

A well-known tipster Digital Chat Station took to Weibo to share that the Apple foldable’s prototype features a 7.7-inch internal display and a 5.5-inch cover display. Previous reports had suggested that the foldable screen would measure 7.8-inch diagonally. The new leaked size may be slightly smaller, but it still brings the iPhone Fold to the tablet territory. news Also Read: 6 Best Premium Tablets For Office Work: Which One You Should Buy

In comparison, the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 features an 8-inch inner display and a 6.5-inch cover screen. OPPO Find N5, on the other hand, sports an 8.12-inch foldable panel.

Reportedly, this change is inspired by Apple’s move to offer a more balanced and practical layout instead of oversized or ultra-wide displays. This means the iPhone Fold will feature a 4:3 aspect ratio as seen on the iPad mini.

Tipster Digital Chat Station also mentions that the prototype will see a slimmer profile. This is in line with earlier predictions by analyst Ming-Chi Kuo. That said, the first Apple foldable device could measure between 9mm and 9.5mm in thickness when folded. This dimension is a little chunkier than the Galaxy Z Fold 7 (8.9mm), but still quite slim for a first-generation foldable.

While many big names have already proved their mettle in the foldable space, Apple is said to be taking its time to perfect the device with a near crease-free display. This is one of the reasons for the possible delay. If everything falls into place, the iPhone Fold could debut in 2026.
