Sony PlayStation 5 Pro may debut soon if a new insider leak is to go by. Dubbed the world’s most powerful gaming console, the PS5 Pro has been in development for a while, and while Sony has not confirmed anything, information sourced from game developers hints at a release sometime later this year. The specifications and other details of the Sony PlayStation 5 Pro are still scarce, but you can expect significant upgrades in the performance for an ultimate gaming experience. The upcoming PlayStation 5 Pro will be the most powerful and advanced console from Sony, sitting atop the PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 5 Slim models. Rumours were previously rife that Sony may plan to launch the PS5 Pro in the second half of 2024. The timeline also made sense because the PlayStation 5 Slim debuted in October last year. A year’s gap could have been enough for the hype. However, that may not be the case. Some other reports said the launch may not take place until the year-end. This could also mean the window may extend to early next year, per an Insider Gaming report. Also Read: Sony PS5 Gaming Handheld is reportedly in early stages of development
According to the reports, game developers can begin submitting games and software to Sony’s Platform Certification & Operations team from July end, while the games released on the PlayStation platform after September 15 must be optimised for the PS5 Pro. All this points to a release later this year, but there is a slim chance the launch timeline may spill beyond Q4 2024 and over to 2025. But, in any case, the launch is not too far, so anyone planning to buy a new gaming console should wait a few more months for the highest-end console. Sony’s next gaming console, PlayStation 5 Pro, may use the same 8-core Zen 2 processor but with an overclock speed of 3.85GHz, offering faster performance than the existing PS5. It may pack a new RDNA 3 graphics card with 30 WGPs and 16GB of GDDR6 RAM with a 28 percent higher data read-and-write speed of 576Gbps. The new console may also feature more features and better ray-tracing capabilities than the predecessor, but there is no clarity yet. Sony will talk about all the features in detail around the launch.
