Samsung Odyssey 3D gaming monitor announced at Gamescom 2024

Gamescom 2024 came with a lot of game announcements like Indiana Jones, Mafia, and a lot more. And Samsung took the opportunity to introduce its latest gaming monitor named Odyssey 3D at the event. As the name suggests, Samsung Odyssey 3D has the ability to convert 2D into 3D with one-of-a-kind lenses. The laptop is going to make 3D glasses useless.

Samsung Odyssey 3D specifications and features

Samsung Odyssey 3D is available in two screen sizes including 27-inch and 37-inch. The monitor can produce an output of up to 4K resolution at a maxed-out refresh rate of 165Hz. The device can show 3D content minus the 3D glasses with the help of Eye Tracking and View Mapping technology used in the making. The Eye Tracking tech tracks the eye movement with the help of a built-in stereo camera. On the other hand, the View Mapping tech adjusts the image to increase the depth perception.

As claimed by Samsung, users can also switch between the 3D and 2D modes according to their requirement. The 3D capabilities of the gaming monitor are backed by light field display (LFD) technology. Keeping all that aside, the gaming monitor also gets a 1ms grey-to-grey (GTG) response time coupled with FreeSync Premium technology. Connectivity features offered in the Samsung Odyssey 3D gaming monitor include DisplayPort 1.4, and two HDMI 2.1 ports. For comfortable usage, they sport a Height Adjustment Stand (HAS) with tilt.

Until now, Samsung has not confirmed anything regarding the launch date and pricing of the Odyssey 3D monitor globally. However, expectations are that we will get to see the same for purchase by the end of the year. The pricing of the device is still under wraps. High chances are that it reach the market at a high price point.
