Flappy Bird, one of the most popular games that was taken down from the Google Play Store back in 2014, is making a comeback after almost a decade. A report by IGN said that the expanded version of Flappy Bird is coming to web browsers by the end of October 2024 with a full-fledged comeback on Google Play Store and Apple App Store in 2025. One of the most prominent changes is that we will get to see a new developer named Flappy Bird Foundation showcased as a ‘team of passionate fans committed to sharing the game with the world.’
The theme and mechanics of the Flappy Bird game were super simple, you just need to tap your finger and make the bird on the screen flap through the gaps between pipes. While the game sounds easy to play, only those who have played it no the pain of beating their own high scores after multiple failed attempts.
And the story behind the takedown of the game from the Google Play Store and Apple App Store is not controversial. It’s just that in 2014, the creator of the game, Dong Nguyen, removed the game from both platforms because of the stress of being popular on a global basis and the concerns revolving around the players getting addicted to the game.
As for the upcoming version, the game will consist of new characters including, Quirky, Peng, Trixie, and Tekno. Furthermore, the game will also have two new modes – easy mode, rivals mode allowing the players to compete with 99 other players, and basketball-themed mode where players will be supposed to fly the characters through hoops.
