YouTube has finally launched the YouTube Premium Lite subscription plan which offers ad-free streaming for a lot of videos. The plan is currently only available in the United States and the company has suggested that it will be live in other regions in the coming week. As of now, the price of the plan in the US is priced at $7.99 per month which converts to Rs 695. However, we can say with surety that the pricing will be different when it reaches Asian countries, mostly on the cheaper side. Also Read: What is YouTube Premium Lite and When will it launch?
The YouTube Premium Lite plan carries a lower price tag which clearly means that some of the features will not be available with it. Still, the plan provides ad-free streaming of YouTube videos. Also Read: YouTube Premium Lite ad-free plan is going away for good
Nonetheless, a major highlight of this one is that the users will now get access to YouTube Music which means they can still get to see ads on the music videos. And yes, features like background play and music download will also not be available for the users who will select the Premium Lite Tier subscription.
YouTube, with the introduction of the YouTube Premium Lite Plan, is trying to focus on the ad-free streaming of videos for users who don’t need the whole Premium bundle. YouTube has already said that the ads will be visible while watching shorts or music content.
After the pilot mode in the United States, the plan will be first introduced in Germany, Thailand, and Australia in the coming weeks. Until now, there has been no word regarding the launch of the plan in India. However, speculations are that if the plan arrives in the country, then it will be most probably priced under Rs 100 keeping in mind the current YouTube Premium is available for Rs 149 per month.
