YouTube Music is adding a useful feature for people like me who are bad at remembering lyrics. This much-awaited tool will let you search for a song by humming it, so it is not a problem if you do not remember the lyrics. This can be helpful in scenarios where a song you heard somewhere is stuck in your mind, but you do not know what.
According to a 9to5Google report, the new tool in YouTube Music will respond to both hums and a melody played on an instrument to look for a song. It has been in testing since March, but YouTube is finally ready to roll it out to Music users. The new hum to search tool is similar to Google Search’s, available since 2020 on Android and iOS apps. Google Search lets users say “What’s this song?” or tap the “Search a song” button to start humming for 10-15 seconds immediately after that to look for a song. It then shows the most likely matches for the tune.
YouTube Music is rolling out the new feature to version 7.02, so you should update your app as soon as possible. Unfortunately, the new song search tool is available only on YouTube Music’s Android app currently. There is no announcement about when the iOS counterpart will receive the new useful feature.
