– First, let’s talk about design. The Boat Airdopes 300 TWS earbuds have a plastic body with a design that will remind you of the Realme Buds T110. While there aren’t a lot of unique designs available out there in this category especially in this price range, the colour play usually makes a lot of difference. Unlike its competitors, Realme and Oppo to name a few, Boat has opted for a dual-finish approach. So, you get the gloss black on top and matte black at the bottom, which would have been fine had the quality of material being used been better. However, this combination of colours and material makes these earbuds and their case look anything but premium.
Coming to the earbuds, the design of each bud looks a lot like that of the Realme Buds T110. But that’s not necessarily a bad thing as these earbuds are quite comfortable to wear even if you are wearing them for a prolonged period of time if you decide to go for a jog outside.
– Now let’s talk about the app. The Boat Airdopes 300 TWS earbuds connect with the Boat Hearables app to give you access to additional features such as spatial audio and in-ear detection. You can also see the charge levels of each earbud using this app. You can turn these features on or off easily with a single tap and the app makes it easier to customise single and double taps on each earbud. These controls can also be used for accessing your on-device virtual assistant using touch-based controls. While the Boat Hearables app makes it easier to access and control all these features, it doesn’t give you access to the Master Equalizer, which essentially lets you customise the sound of these earbuds to your liking. So, even if you don’t like the way these earbuds sound or may be you just want to tweak the sound a little bit, you are stuck with it once you get these earbuds.
– Coming to the features, the Boat Airdopes 300 TWS earbuds come with a bunch of utilitarian features such as multi-point connectivity, in-ear detection and Boat Fast Pair. The fast pairing feature works from the minute you open the lid of the case and it is quick at connecting these earbuds with any device, the multi-point connectivity is also fuss–free in setting up. However, I did face issues with the in-ear detection feature as it played music even when I removed one of the earbuds. I also faced connectivity issues while streaming music with the sound vanishing completely several times while streaming songs from my phone.
– Battery is one area that Boat has really mastered. During my time with these earbuds, light usage for around two days depleted just 10 percent of the battery. On medium to heavy usage, I had to charge them once in a week, which is quite impressive. Another good thing about the battery is that you can use your phone’s Type-C charger for charging it, which reduces the hassle of carrying multiple charging cables in your bag.
– Lastly but most importantly, the sound. This is another area where the Boat Airdopes 300 TWS earbuds offer impressive performance. These earbuds offer crystal clear audio which maintains this quality even as the volume goes up. These earbuds have a bass heavy sound and yet they manage to provide balanced mids. In simple words, whether you are listening to Lighthouse by Calum Scott or Naomi Scott’s Speechless, these earbuds will surprise you with their audio quality each time. This experience is enhanced by the Spatial Audio feature, which makes listening to music an absolute pleasure.
Now to answer your question, should you buy the Boat Airdopes 300 TWS earbuds or not? Yes absolutely, especially for their sound. While they do have a boring design and a bunch of issues here and there, they sound splendid and they offer a long battery life, which is impressive for earbuds in this range. So, if you can ignore some of these issues, the Boat Airdopes 300 TWS earbuds are totally worth every dime spent.
