WhatsApp is working on a new switch UI by following Material Design 3 guidelines. The switch has a light grey border and marks when it is off. WhatsApp is working on a feature to discover new channels by using filters. There will be a new section that lets users search for specific channels. Users can enter a text to search for a channel by its name and this section gives users three filters to use when searching for channels to sort the results: recently added, popularity, and alphabetically. WhatsApp is releasing a feature to add profile pictures to group chats. The profile picture is useful when group members have similar names or haven’t set a profile photo. WhatsApp is currently testing a new status section for iOS, which is now called “Updates”. In the new status section, muted status updates are now in a separate section called “Muted Status” and the shortcut to privacy settings has been moved to the same menu.
